By Chris Young, OSU Head Women’s Tennis Coach
For the first time in school history, our women’s tennis program is in the Final Four! The semifinal match will be tomorrow (Monday) and the time has been moved to 10am. Originally scheduled for 12pm with the men’s semifinal matches to follow, the threat of rain has caused the committee to move up our match time. We will start at 10am either outside or indoor at the Case Tennis Center at TU. I realize that the 10am start time is early and not ideal for our fans, but the support we have received all season and in the last two matches has been phenomenal. These ladies will compete with everything they have and represent the OSU brand with pride tomorrow, and I hope that you can be there to watch. If you are not able to be there, you can follow the live stream online or stay updated through our twitter account @Cowgirltennis
I know there have been a lot of questions about the point penalty our crowd was assessed following the doubles. I have met with the NCAA committee and officials and expressed my opinions. Their claim is that our fans were cheering during the points and intentionally trying to hinder the ability of the opposing team. I do not feel this way, and I certainly don’t want to take away from the great fan support we have built which is an asset for us. I would encourage everyone who comes tomorrow to be as loud as you can be. Try to cheer following each point in a positive manner for the Cowgirls and let’s show why we have the best fans in the country.
Again, thank you for your support this season. We are ready and prepared for a great day tomorrow! The match time is 10am at the Michael Case Tennis Center at TU. You can purchase tickets at the tent just outside the entrance and we look forward to seeing a sea of orange tomorrow!
