Mize and Staker Team Up For National Title

Everyone’s goal is to win big and win that Gold Ball. Kelsey Mize and Emma Staker out of Tucker Tennis Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma made that happen at a USTA National tournament in August 2019. The 2019 National Doubles Championship was held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.  This tournament was the only national junior competition devoted solely to doubles. As a Level 1 USTA National Championship, competitors earned Level 1 National Ranking Points and Mize and Staker received the USTA’s coveted Gold Ball.

The USTA National Double Championship comprised of 32 total teams with a compass draw, which allowed all teams to play 4 matches.  Staker and Mize were seeded number 2 in the tournament and won their first match 1 and 0.  Beating teams from Texas, Florida, and Southern, Kelsey Mize and Emma Staker beat Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Megan Heuser from Section Midwest in a long fought out 3 set match, winning the final set 7-5.  Congratulations to these two players for bringing their Gold Ball back to Oklahoma!
